Katie & Keaton at River Road Venue

Katie and Keaton chose the chapel. He waited at the front in dress blues, sword at his side, doing the thing Marines are trained to do: standing perfectly still while everything in him moved. She teaches elementary school. She spends her working life keeping a room of small people calm and cared for, and there is more in common between those two jobs than most people would guess.

We spent the morning between the getting-ready spaces, then followed them out into the meadow for portraits once the ceremony ended, and into the Great Hall as the sun dropped. Military weddings carry a formality that some couples find stiff. Katie and Keaton wore it easily — the ceremony had weight, and then the reception had none at all.

We film weddings all over Texas, and River Road is a venue we’re always glad to return to. The chapel is small enough that audio behaves, the meadow gives you a completely different look twenty steps away, and the staff know their property well enough to get out of your way.
